Over the weekend I stopped by to see "World War 1 and the Visual Arts" at the Metropolitan Museum. It was a terrific opportunity to see the evolution of attitudes towards the war from its optimistic beginnings to its more grisly reality as depicted primarily in prints and posters. It had me thinking about the many amazing art museums in the Upper East Side that are not only appealing to the eye, but have humbling stories to tell. These museums are one of the many reasons why people have such a strong desire to live in this Manhattan neighborhood. Around almost every corner you will stumble into a museum of some sort. This easy accessibility to world renowned museums contributes to the never ending culture and richness of the area. Below you will find a list of my personal favorite art museums in the Upper East Side that are well worth spending an afternoon at.
